Oh, I'm fine. I was eating my lunch and watching the golf channel when it happened. Ever seen a cat jump straight up about 4 feet from a dead sleep? ![]() |

Despite running 70% speed on this particular neck, the vacuum just couldn't hold on. Usually that bolt you see in the picture goes into one of the neck bolt inserts for added stability, but this customer (yes you, Andy) didn't want the inserts, so it was vacuum only. The cutter is also due for a re-grind, so it's pounding on the part a little harder than a freshly sharpened one would. J |

ouch..... thats a pretty scary thought!! |

The scary thing to me is the power this thing has. It split this neck blank all the way up the middle into two pieces and send the top inch or so of the heel all the way across the shop. Yet, when I check the position of the cutter against the fixture, it is not off. I mean it is +/-.0002" from where it ought to be. Also, you can't really tell from the picture, but that bit is 5/8" diameter and 6" long. Weighs about 2 lbs. |

Don I do use a cross dowel and bolt system. BUT because of my fretboard extension on top of my neck block, my 1st bolt is lower down the tenon compared to Johns standard!!!!! |

Paul, the running down the stairs takes no time, it's the crawling across the floor on your hands and knees to the emergency stop button that takes a minute. ![]() Andy, the replacement is cutting now. No worries. ![]() |

John, I think you can still use that neck. Just put "Gibson" on the headstock and stamp a "2" on the back. No waste! |
